Playtime Poppy again enters a float into the Freedom Festival Parade at Kirkwood Community College where it was held this year.

The Swamp Fox Parade was another BIG SUCCESS!

 

The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance Innovative Excellence Awards (aka The Ickys) is a sealed-envelope, red carpet award show created by the staff, board and volunteers of the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance. The event hopes to raise the level of awareness for arts and culture in the Corridor by highlighting those events in Calendar Year 2008 that exemplify Innovation and Excellence in Cultural Programming.

The event will include faux paparazzi, red carpet reporters, celebrity presenters and the awarding of 13 specially made trophies created by local artist Tom Newport, known as the Ickys.

This is a chance for all of us who appreciate the Corridor's exceptional arts and cultural community to come together in celebration and applaud the visual, performing and literary artists that make this community a great place to live and work. All are welcome to show up and applaud their favorite events in these categories: Educational, Visual Arts or Visual Arts Programming, History Exhibits or History Programming, Children's Programming, Dance Programming, Theater Programming, Music Programming, Locally Produced Festival, Touring Event, as well as awards for collaboration and advocacy.

 

Children's Theatre of Cedar Rapids is nominated in the Children's Programming for Timeless Tales by: Hans Christian Andersen. This is an event Playtime Poppy won't miss. "

This is the first time that Playtime Poppy/Children's Theatre of Cedar Rapids has been nominated for any award from The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance.
